You knew this, duh. But have you seen it from space?
Its been pretty smokey here, I wanted to see if I could see it from space. Yes, but man...not like it is in California .

We are getting a lot of that smoke all the way up here in Mo ntana. If we make it a few more weeks Montana will be firmly out of the fire season.

Drove through DTLA yesterday. Even there it was obviously hazy. Great sunsets though

The little valley we are in was cleared out yesterday evening, Sylvie actually played with her friend Miko at the dog park. She was not happy for a couple days. I hope that trend continues, right now it’s pretty bad, we were green last night and I had the windows open, now it’s red at 177. I hope it clears in the evening again, there is no way to play with Sylvie enough in the house to make her happy enough.

Yes. And you can see my house. We got a break from the smoke yesterday evening for several house and it was nice to open the windows and cool down the house a bit. Today, not so great:
But much to be grateful for, such as my there are no flames approaching my back fence.

Somewhat clear today but I’m sure it won’t last long. I have had some friends remark on it wondering where it’s coming from and my response is always “everywhere”. We are basically surrounded by forest fires so anyway the wind blows we are guaranteed to get some smoke

Sorry for my ignorance as I’ve never lived anywhere at risk (or as at risk) for wild fires, but are there steps you can take, like digging ditches around your stuff, or is it literally hope and pray?
Either way, scary stuff.

You have to keep the brush and grass cleared around your home so that firefighters, if any are available... , can have a shot at defending the place. There was a huge fire years ago up in Trinity County where my BIL and SIL live and because they worked exhaustively at keeping a clear zone around their home, the firefighters eagerly and successfully defended it. They lost a couple of
their outbuildings and the cylinder head on their rototiller melted, but their house was saved when many others weren’t.

I’ve thought about heading somewhere less smokey, but none of those places are in driving distance. It’s been a wacky start to CA fire season.

That’s what they said. The aluminum formed a puddle, which subsequently resolidified.

I don’t think there is any escape unless you want to go to the midwest and do some cow tipping

My BIL is a smart and capable guy and he was blown away by it.
